Srinagar, Mar 29 (KNO): Continuing its efforts against the menace of drug trafficking, police on Saturday said to have arrested three drug peddlers in Shopian & Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Shopian, a Police team from Police Station Shopian at a checkpoint established at Girward Zawoora, intercepted 02 suspicious persons. They have been identified as Basharat Ali, Son of Bahadur Ali and Mohd Mushtaq Thakker, son of Ab Rashid Thakker, both residents of Dandoot, Rajouri. During the search, 739 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. Further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the individuals, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Similarly in Sopore, a police team led by Incharge Police Post Fruit Mandi under the supervision of SDPO Sopore and SHO Police Station Sopore, during patrolling at Reban, intercepted a suspicious person namely Shakir Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Nabi Khan resident of Reban. During the search, police party was able to recover 103 grams of charas like substance from his possession.
All the accused persons have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, police said.
